Where is the club?
KYC is at 285 Carlow Road, Port Stanley, Ontario (Central Elgin), about 2 miles up Kettle Creek from the mouth of Port Stanley Harbour.
Position: 42°39.320′N, 081°12.742′W.
What size of boat can the club handle?
Power and sailboats under 40 feet, with a beam of 14.5 feet or less and a draft of 4 feet or less.
Each slip has one 30 amp hydro service and municipal water.
How many boats?
62 individual slips, plus a well for lifting and fuelling member boats.
Where are the docks?
On the west bank of Kettle Creek, well protected from Lake Erie waves. Parking and the clubhouse sit in a park-like setting. Each dock has its own dock box, picnic area and a 30-foot finger dock.
What facilities does the club have?
The clubhouse has a large common room for functions and meetings, a corner gas fireplace with a sitting area and TV, a well-equipped kitchen, washrooms, showers and a separate laundry. A large patio overlooks the creek.
A storage garage houses the tractors and the “Honey Sucker” pump-out. The club runs its own 15-ton travel lift (boats up to 14′6″ beam) and gas fuelling.
There is no restaurant or licensed bar.
Do I have to work at the club?
Yes. KYC is a true self-help club and only brings in outside help for jobs members can’t do. Each member is asked to put in 15 hours of work a year, or pay up to $600.
What does membership include?
Lift-in and lift-out by member travel lift operators at no charge, free pump-outs, on-site winter storage for one boat, summer storage for blocking, stands and a trailer, club functions all season, and a lot of new friends.
How secure is the yard?
The electronically controlled front gate is always closed and opens with a member gate pass. A pedestrian gate beside it opens with a passcode that can be given to registered guests.
Is there a phone or Wi-Fi?
There is a house phone in the main lobby, and Wi-Fi for members.
Where do I park?
In the main lot. Member parking is beside the grassed area near the docks. Guest parking is mostly beside the storage garage.
Is there a dress code?
Dress appropriately at all times. Shoes and a shirt are required in the clubhouse.
Can I bring guests?
Members in good standing may bring guests, and must be present while their guests are at the club. Guests arriving by boat must sign in and follow the same rules as members.
Does the club monitor VHF?
No. The club does not monitor VHF radio. Call the Fleet Captain instead.
